    What Is PRP Therapy?

PRP involves drawing a small sample of your blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, then re-injecting the plasma into your skin. These platelets contain growth factors that accelerate tissue repair, encourage new collagen, and improve overall skin quality.

      FAQs

      When will I see results?

Most clients start to notice subtle improvements in skin texture, tone, and glow within 2–4 weeks, with more noticeable results appearing over 8–12 weeks as collagen and tissue regeneration continues. Multiple sessions are often recommended to achieve optimal results, depending on your skin condition and goals

What are the risks and side effects of PRP?

Like all medical procedures, PRP carries risks. You may experience temporary redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness where the blood is taken or the PRP is injected. Infection is less common. As PRP uses your own blood, an allergic reaction to the plasma is unlikely.

      Does it hurt?

Most clients find PRP therapy tolerable. The procedure involves a series of small injections, which can feel like mild pinching or pricking. Topical numbing cream is typically applied before treatment to minimise discomfort. Any soreness or tenderness after the procedure is usually mild and temporary, resolving within a day or two.

      What is the downtime?

PRP therapy generally involves minimal downtime. Some clients may experience redness, mild swelling, or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites, which usually resolves within 24–48 hours. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately, though it’s recommended to avoid intense exercise, alcohol, or prolonged sun exposure for the first day to allow the skin to recover.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of PRP sessions depends on your skin condition and desired results. Most clients benefit from a series of 3 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. After the initial course, maintenance sessions every 6–12 months can help sustain results. Your practitioner will create a personalized plan to achieve optimal skin rejuvenation.

Can PRP help with thinning hair?

PRP may help some people with male or female pattern hair thinning, although results vary. It involves injecting platelet-rich plasma from your own blood into the scalp. It can help improve hair density in individuals experiencing thinning or hair loss. The growth factors in PRP help revitalise hair follicles, strengthen existing hair, and promote new growth. Multiple sessions are usually recommended for optimal results. During your consultation, we will discuss your concerns, medical history and whether further investigations are needed.

How much does PRP treatment cost?

PRP treatment starts from £275 per session, with a course of three available for £750. During your consultation, we will discuss your concerns and agree on a personalised treatment plan. The number of sessions recommended, and the full cost will always be explained before you decide to go ahead.

Who is suitable for PRP, and who should avoid treatment?

PRP can be for adults concerned about skin quality, acne scarring or certain types of thinning hair, following an assessment. It is not suitable for everyone. Treatment should be postponed if you have an active infection, and certain blood or platelet disorders, active cancer and medications such as blood thinners may make it unsuitable. During your consultation, we will review your medical history and medications, discuss what you hope to achieve and explain whether PRP is appropriate for you.

What happens during my PRP consultation and treatment?

During your consultation, we discuss your concerns, review your medical history and explain the treatment. A small sample of blood is taken from your arm and placed in a centrifuge, which spins the blood to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This is then injected into the area being treated or applied alongside microneedling, depending on your treatment plan. You are made comfortable throughout, and numbing cream may be used where appropriate. Afterwards, you receive clear aftercare advice and the clinic’s contact details should you have any concerns.
